Facebook Passes the 900 Million Monthly Users Barrier

Recently Facebook announced they have passed the 900 million mark in terms of monthly active users. The company disclosed in an updated IPO filing that it now has 901 million such users as of March 31.

India, look out! If Facebook was a country, it’d be the third largest most populous, now about 300 million shy of India and some 400 million fewer people than in China. It also has nearly three times the population of the U.S.

Facebook’s population boom is running fairly consistent between quarters, though growth certainly isn’t at the near 20% levels from a few years ago. Here’s what the growth looks like between the fourth quarter and the latest first quarter, as well as the previous sequential figures for the past few periods:

1Q 2012: 6.6% (56 million users added)

4Q 2011: 5.6% (45 million)

3Q 2011: 8.2% (61 million)

2Q 2011: 8.7% (59 million)

1Q 2011: 11.9% (72 million)

And now, here’s the chart from Facebook’s amended IPO filing:
